Looks like Bertrand's fix for the CGI module also had a positive effect on
FastCGI performance. I replaced the CGI module today, and problems I had
while viewing large php documents has gone away.
there are a few other outstanding problems with fastcgi, though:
1. On occasion (perhaps 10% of requests), PHP will not respond to a
FastCGI request, causing the browser to hang. I've looked at the protocol,
and assuming the data has actually been sent (hard to determine), it looks
like some sort of problem specifically with PHP.
2. Not sure if it's a new thing, but I got a 500 error from caudium
telling me the stream has been closed. I've never had that before, and I'm
not sure if it's a side effect of bertrand's change.
